Friday is the market day, when the entire town hosts the weekly market, one of the largest in Tuscany. Not only food, but shoes, bags, fabric, tools. This is where the mall comes to you. The piazza below my apartment where I teach, hosts the fruit and vegetable part of the market. We start the day with a snack at the local pastry shop and then tour some of the market and we can decide between meat and fish as our main course. The freshest fish is sold at one of the food trucks. In town, there are two incredible butchers to chose from. Then we create the menu based on what is in season.
If you come during the week for a cooking class, we have a local farm shop as well as a tiny grocery store. No fish is possible as we do not have a local fresh fish shop.
